Project  "Youth work - uprising beyond the borders” started 1st october 2018 and it's foreseen to last 14 months. National association of youth workers (NAPOR) is impementing it in a partnership with Estonian Youth Work Centre. It's funded by the Tempus Foundation through the ERASMUS + program.

The idea for this project came after assessing common needs on improving quality of youth work, area in which both partners are highly experienced, being central bodies on national level for development of youth work. Several international activities are planned in order to reach the results: study visits for 38 youth workers organized, in Serbia and Estonia, development of Analyses document on good practices that focuses to demonstrate the context of youth work, cooperation with youth field institutions and showcase examples of youth work practiced among involved countries, production of Policy brief on involvement of youth work into local public institutions in Serbia, Online campaign pointing out the competence of people working with youth through youth work programs,  places where they work and type of youth work they practice and final event Share!, in the form of video web conference with the live broadcast.

Main results of the project "Youth work - uprising beyond the borders” that will be jointly implemented by NAPOR and Estonian Youth Work Centre are:

  • Created recommendations and identified areas for improvement of national mechanisms regarding quality youth work, based on experience from study visits to Serbia and Estonia;
  • Created evidence based proposal of new policy at national level that will be tailored to ensure sustainable system for youth work practice;
  • Supported professional development of youth workers and their empowerment to introduce innovative methods and approaches into daily work and Initiated youth workers programs and policies improvements on the level of local organizations and local public institutions represented by youth workers involved in the project. 

Transnational meetings: Preparation meeting of partners was held in Tallinn, from 12th to 14th November 2018. Two participants from each partner organisation attended the meeting. Meeting was dedicated to fine tune time frame of the project and each of the planned activities and to get common understanding of responsibilities of each organization concerning technical and financial matters and reporting. More about this meeting find HERE

Preparation meetings for Study visit to Estonia were held in both countries. Meeting with Serbian participants was held on January 11th in Novi Sad, while meeting with Estonian participants took place in Tallinn on January. 

Study visit to Estonia: Study visit has been organized for 14 youth workers, together with 4 members of project staff (representatives of NAPOR and Estonian Youth Work centre). The event took place in the first half of Februari 2019. in Tallin (Estonia). It lasted five working days (excluding travel). As the main objective of the project is exchange of good practices and introduction of innovative methods, approaches and tools used among youth workers in each country, in Estonia following types which has been explored in details: life skills development, leisure-based youth work, digital youth work, youth counselling. At the beginning of the visit participants have been explored the national context through presentation of institutional and legal framework in the field of youth work in Estonia, presented by EYWC and Ministry of Education and Research, and presentation of quality assurance mechanisms developed at country level (youth workers vocational standards, education, standards for program quality, tools for recognition of NFE in youth work programs...). Moreover, during study visit to Estonia, special focus was on the local public institutions where youth work is practiced. Preparation meetings for Study visit to Serbia were held in both countries. ENTK held preparation meeting with Estonian participants in Tallinn on February 3rd, while NAPOR organized meeting with Serbian participants on February 11th in Novi Sad.

Study visit to Serbia: Study visit also has been organized for 14 youth workers, together with 4 members of project staff (representatives of NAPOR and Estonian Youth Work centre). The event took place in the 2nd half of Februari 2019. in Sremski Karlovci (Serbia). It lasted five working days (excluding travel). The aims for the visit were to explore: organization of youth work, types of youth work practiced within country, cooperation with youth field institutions and youth workers occupational standard. Study visit included joint sessions for presentation on youth work realities in Serbia and Estonia with the main aim to introduce institutional and legal framework on national, regional and local level, developed country mechanisms for quality of youth work, validation and education of youth workers in relation to occupational standards as well as on sight visits to youth work practiced among organisations in the field in order to explore methods and tools used within youth work practice. Detail information about this study visit - review trought days you can find HERE

National meetings: Meeting in Serbia with participants from both study visits took place on March 22nd in Nis.  Meeting in Estonia will take place in April (date tbc).

 

Analysis document on good practice: Main focus of the publication is to demonstrate the context of youth work, cooperation with youth field institutions and showcase examples of youth work practiced among the countries. Important parts of analysis is oriented to explore challenges faced in each country from institutional framework to available methods and tools. Online campaign: The social media campaign is based on interviews with young youth practitioners from Serbia and Estonia, with the aim of highlighting the competencies people who work with young people, the programs they implement, the places they work and the type of youth work they practice. The campaign involved 20 youth workers from Estonia and Serbia.

Conference and Webinar "SHARE!": 
Share! – video web conference have been organised at the end of the project (14th of November). It involved youth work practitioners, representatives of the relevant Ministries and national institutions as well as representatives of local institutions where youth work can/takes place. It was organised with the aim to present all the outcomes and results achieved, but also to discuss about new perspectives and institutionalisation of youth work in Serbia.

Evaluation meeting: The meeting took place at the end of November 2019 (from 26th till 28th) in Novi Sad. It gathered two representatives from each partner organization, together with two youth workers involved in the project (one from each partner organisation). Meeting was the closing activity of the project and it was dedicated to analyzing results of the project, quality of cooperation and possible follow up, but also for discussion about future cooperation in the field of youth work and new project ideas.
